Birkin James Culp is a Certified Specialist in Family Law, a distinction conferred on him by the Law Society of Ontario.  He exclusively practises in the areas of divorce and family law in Brantford, ON.

His divorce and family law practice includes but is not limited to: complex divorce litigation; child custody & parenting decision making matters; child relocation issues; child and spousal support issues; Family Responsibility Office matters including driver's license suspension for non-payment of child support matters; variation modifications, collaborative family law mediation and domestic violence matters.

Birkin also represents both employees and employers before administrative tribunal hearings and in the courts, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Experience & Knowledge

The biggest advantages to Birkin's representation is his extensive knowledge of the law and his considerable legal experience.  As a certified specialist and trained collaborative lawyer, he has represented literally thousands of people involved in legal disputes resolving matters through both the negotiation and court litigation streams.  He has also been an Agent for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and a Panel Lawyer with the Family Responsibility Office. 

Birkin is a Superior Court of Justice Small Claims Judge, he presented at a continuing legal education program at the Law Society of Ontario in Toronto, and he is the course developer and teacher of the Foundations of Canadian Law legal course which he teaches to sixth year students of the joint BA/LLB Sussex Partnership Law program at the Wilfrid Laurier University Brantford Campus.

Active in the Brantford community, Birkin is a Past-President of St. Leonard’s Community Services, previously served as Chair of the St. Pius Syrian Refugee Committee, and is a current executive member of the Brant Law Association.
